Terrorism First Response

IN THE WAKE OF THE TERRORIST ATTACKS OF September 11, 2001, civilian first response has become an issue of importance. No longer are strictly military or government facilities the targets of terrorism, but also buildings where thousands of our brothers and sisters work. While military and state search-and-rescue agencies have their priorities, so does the Red Star Society. Our task is to see that every worker who can makes it out of such a situation alive, and that the families of those who do not receive the proper support and understanding in their time of grief are looked after. In addition, the RSS provides a ready auxiliary to prepare and distribute food, water and other supplies to civilian first responders (EMTs, doctors, nurses, volunteers, etc.), help establish triage and rest areas, and aid in transport of survivors to staging areas or medical assistance centers.
